(Nov. 6, 2012) — Based on its proven track record of making safety a top priority, Averitt Express was recently recognized by the Tennessee Trucking Association with a 2012 Fleet Safety Award for LTL carriers with more than 15 million miles. The award honors the safest fleets in Tennessee with the lowest accident frequency ratio.

Additionally, Averitt’s director of safety and compliance, John Walton, was named the 2012 Hugh Galbreath Safety Professional of the Year. The award is designed to promote and advance high standards in qualification and performance for fleet safety directors.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2012) — For the second straight year, Averitt Express was named LTL Carrier of the Year by Parker Hannifin, a manufacturer of motion and control technologies based in Cleveland, Ohio. The award is based on carrier performance, as well as results of a survey completed by Parker Hannifin’s 250 North America shipping locations.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 4, 2012) — Averitt has rolled out improved less-than-truckload (LTL) service times from Atlanta to the Midwest and West Coast through two new The Reliance Network Express Lanes.

With the improvements, LTL shipments moving from Atlanta can now receive two-day service to Ohio, Indiana and the majority of Michigan. Midwestern cities that are part of the new The Reliance Network Express Lane program include Cleveland, Indianapolis and Detroit.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (Sept. 14, 2012) — Averitt Express recently completed construction on a new Fort Smith facility on South Zero Street, which includes expanded operations to meet customer needs for customized warehousing and distribution.

The new service center, which is at the intersection of South Zero Street and State Highway 45, features more than 30 dock doors and 25,400 square feet of space. About 10,000 of that is enclosed space ideal for storage, processing and warehousing operations.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2012) — National Driver Appreciation Week is September 16-22, and Averitt Express is celebrating the annual, nationwide event by honoring its drivers who have achieved 20 or more years of safe driving with Averitt.

Averitt has nearly 250 associates who have accumulated at least 20 years of safe driving.

This year’s event set participation records for the fifth straight year.

Each year, the association presents this award to an individual from the service provider community who has shown leadership, continued commitment to the industry, and support of the association. This marks the first time an Averitt associate has received the award.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (April 21, 2012) — When it came time to celebrate 40 years of service, the associates of Averitt Express didn’t simply mark the occasion with a cake and balloons. In addition to recognizing the milestone with cookouts and “birthday” festivities, each of Averitt’s 150 locations throughout the South was challenged to accumulate 40 hours of community service in the Averitt 40 for 40 Community Challenge.
