Frequently Asked Questions

Distribution & Fulfillment FAQs

Learn more about Averitt’s flexible warehousing, fulfillment, inventory management, and integrated transportation capabilities.

Do you offer short-term warehousing without a long-term contract?

Yes. Averitt offers flexible warehousing options designed for both immediate and longer-term needs. That can include short-term projects, seasonal or overflow inventory, and more fully managed distribution operations. The goal is to give you room to scale without forcing your operation into a one-size-fits-all solution.

Where does Averitt offer warehousing and distribution services?

Averitt provides warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment capacity across a network of facilities throughout the South and Central U.S. That network helps businesses position inventory closer to customers, suppliers, ports, and other important points in their supply chain.

What fulfillment services does Averitt provide?

Averitt supports a range of fulfillment needs, including pick and pack, barcode scanning, kitting, repackaging, pallet management, and outbound processing. We can also support e-commerce and omnichannel operations, including direct-to-consumer and large-item distribution.

Can I track my inventory while it is stored with Averitt?

Yes. Averitt provides 24/7 access to inventory information through Extensiv WMS. Customers can track inventory movement from inbound receipt through outbound shipment, with barcode scanning and system integrations helping support inventory accuracy and visibility.

Can Averitt handle transportation before and after warehousing?

Yes. Warehousing can be connected directly with Averitt’s transportation services, including Less-Than-Truckload, Truckload, Dedicated, Intermodal, expedited transportation, and final delivery options. This allows storage, fulfillment, and transportation to work together as part of one supply chain strategy rather than being managed as separate services.

Does Averitt provide drayage and transloading services?

Yes. Through Averitt PortSide® services, we can connect ocean ports, inland ports, and rail ramps with asset-based drayage, transloading, cross-docking, warehousing, and inland transportation. Averitt also operates company-owned chassis to help keep containerized freight moving through the network.

Does Averitt offer cross-docking?

Yes. Cross-docking can help move freight from inbound transportation to outbound distribution with little or no storage in between. It can be used to support consolidation, redistribution, inventory positioning, and other strategies designed to reduce unnecessary handling or dwell time.

Can Averitt scale warehousing capacity as my needs change?

Yes. Flexibility is a central part of Averitt’s Distribution & Fulfillment model. Whether you need additional space during a peak period, capacity in another market, or a broader long-term distribution solution, Averitt can combine warehousing, fulfillment, and transportation capabilities around the needs of your operation.
