Averitt Express employees donate $500,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Matching their largest-ever donation for the second-consecutive year, truck drivers and other employees of Averitt Express raised $500,000 in 2016 that was recently donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The donation was made possible by weekly contributions from Averitt employees as part of its charitable employee-giving program, Averitt Cares for Kids. More than 86 percent of Averitt employees are members of the program, giving $1 per week to help St. Jude and other charitable causes.

Averitt promotes Mason to regional vice president of operations for NC and SC

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Averitt Express recently promoted Fort Mill, S.C. resident Larry Mason to regional vice president of operations.

As part of his new role, Mason will oversee operations in North Carolina and South Carolina for the transportation company.

“Larry brings a wealth of experience from across the industry to the table,” said Richard King, Averitt’s vice president of operations. “That experience, combined with his versatility and drive, make him the perfect fit to help us move forward in our North Carolina and South Carolina region.”

Averitt Express associates team up to give more than 4,000 hours of community service

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Averitt Express associates recently teamed up to provide more than 4,000 hours of community service as part of its annual 40 for 40 Community Challenge.

During the event – which began five years ago to commemorate Averitt’s 40th anniversary – each facility across its network is encouraged to donate 40 hours of service to various charitable causes from October 1 through December 31. In 2016, Averitt associates set a company record by serving 4,002 hours, with 66 facilities giving to numerous efforts such as clothing, food and toy drives, blood donations and more.

Averitt awarded Flag of Freedom honor for commitment to hiring veterans

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Missouri Division of Workplace Development recently recognized Averitt Express for its commitment to hiring military veterans, presenting Averitt with the Flag of Freedom honor as part of its Show-Me Heroes program.

More than 20 percent of Averitt’s current associates have served in the U.S. military. Additionally, Averitt has pledged to add 1,200 more veterans to its team by 2020.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Mastio & Company, an independent research agency that specializes in the LTL industry, recently honored Averitt Express as its 2016 overall Mastio Net Promoter Score Award winner, as well as its Inter-Regional Carrier Award winner.

Mastio & Company interviewed more than 2,000 major shippers to identify carriers that excel in meeting their customers’ needs for its 12th annual LTL Carrier Customer Value/Loyalty Benchmarking Study. The interviews allowed customers to gauge carriers on a number of attributes, including quality of performance, pricing and customer service.
