As Averitt celebrates its 32nd year of partnering with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Marlo Thomas shares some wonderful thoughts about Averitt associates who have helped “… beat all of the odds and make childhood cancer a thing of the past.”
Last year, Averitt associates donated $1,050,001 to St. Jude through Averitt Cares for Kids, a non-profit charitable giving organization funded by and on behalf of our associates.
Hi everyone, it's Marlo. Every year I'm reminded of something my father, Danny Thomas, said when he first opened the doors of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He said, Someday we're going to beat all of the odds and make childhood cancer a thing of the past. It was a bold vision and we get closer to that triumph every day, but we can only do this with the help from generous hearts like yours. This is Averitt Express' thirty second year of our incredible partnership. Since our partnership began, you have raised more than ten million dollars through your associate participation in the Averitt Cares for Kids program. That's an amazing achievement. And it's all because of the power of one. Last year to celebrate your fiftieth anniversary, you donated one million fifty thousand and one dollar to St. Jude, your largest donation since our partnership started. I was really knocked out by that. And I continue to be so moved by your amazing efforts. Your support has a profound impact on the families of St. Jude. You help us continue our groundbreaking research and provide the vital medical treatments that our girls and boys need in their fight against cancer and other life threatening diseases. And your support helps us hold fast to my father's founding promise that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment or travel or housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live. So thank you, my dear friends. You are guardian angels to the children of St. Jude, and your generosity and compassion continue to inspire us all.
The organization is funded through associate contributions, as well as through company contributions made in recognition of associates' accomplishments, participation in community service projects, and personal milestones. More than 94% of our associates are Averitt Cares for Kids members, making contributions of just $1 per week.
