COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Averitt has promoted Scott Potter to vice president of sales for the Tennessee and Virginia area, following the upcoming retirement of Randy Martin on June 1. Martin spent 41 years with Averitt, helping lead sales efforts and support growth throughout the region during his career with the company.
Potter began his Averitt career in 1998 as a part-time dock associate in Nashville before moving into full-time dock and frontline leadership roles. He later served as an operations manager. In 2017, Potter transitioned into sales as a local transportation specialist. Most recently, he served as director of corporate business development, where he supported growth initiatives and worked closely with sales and operations teams across multiple verticals.
“Scott’s background in both operations and sales gives him a strong understanding of how we support customers across our network,” said Kent Williams, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Averitt. “He has consistently demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering results, and we’re confident he is well prepared for this role.”
