Every year, carriers around the nation encourage shippers and the general public to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NDAW).

There are approximately 3.5 million men and women that are dedicated to keeping the American economy moving forward. These individuals affect our daily lives in countless ways. From keeping groceries on the shelves to delivering toys for Christmas and vital medical supplies to hospitals, their importance cannot be underestimated.

Though we celebrate NDAW every year, the pandemic has underscored just how much our communities depend on professional truck drivers. As frontline workers, their tireless efforts and dedication to the job should never go underappreciated.

When Is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2021?

This year, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week will take place September 12-18, 2021.

How To Celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

There are many different ways that you can help encourage and recognize the men and women behind the wheel. Here are a few easy ways you can make a difference during NDAW and beyond.

  1. ) Provide Water and Snacks: Due to parking challenges, it tends to be more difficult for truck drivers to stop at a convenience store for something as simple as a bag of chips or a bottle of water. Handing out treat bags, snacks and drinks is a great way to improve the day of a truck driver!

  2. Allow Access To Restrooms: Make sure that your truck drivers feel welcome at your business. Let them know that they can use your restroom before heading out.

  3. Say "Thank You": You'd be surprised by how much common courtesy can go in the world. Let your truck drivers know that they are a valued part of your team by simply saying thank you.

At Averitt, we celebrate our drivers year-round! This October will mark our 50th anniversary of serving shippers throughout the South and beyond. We couldn't have reached this wonderful milestone without the dedication of our driving force over the year years.

Not only are our drivers committed to serving our customers, they are also dedicated to being good stewards of the road. Through their commitment to safe driving, they keep the motoring public (and our customer's freight) safe!
